This Turkish dish is an exciting mix up to the weekly meatloaf or meatballs recipe. Pair these flavorful Mediterranean morsels with spicy pickles, rich sauces, and fresh Saj for a delicious family favorite!
Ingredients
- 3.5Lb Beef Mince
- 1Lg Yellow Onion, finely minced
- 1 Bunch Italian or Flat Leaf Parsley, minced (stems and leaves)
- 2T 7 Spice
- 2T Unflavored Bread Crumbs
- 2T Milk
- 2T Garlic paste
- Salt
- Pepper
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine meat, onion, parsley, spices, garlic paste, salt and pepper. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine milk and bread crumb to form a panade
- Combine the meat and panade and portion into long flat rectangles around a skewer or by making a meat tube in your hand while pressing out the meat with the fingers of the opposite hand.
- Once portioned, heat a large brasier or non-stick skillet with a lid over a medium-low heat.
- Cook covered on both sides until 160F.
- Serve with sliced pickles, thin sliced tomatoes, Saj, shaved lettuce, roasted potatoes, and Lemon Dill Sauce.
- If serving as shwarma, fry the wrapped shwarma in the reserved beef fats.
